To answer your question:

Famous foods- Tom Yum Goong, Som Tam, & Pad Thai

(if you do not know what they are google them)

Best Tourist Spots - Wat Phrakeaw & the Royal Palace, Khao San Rd backpacker hangout, Wat Arun, & Wat Po,

The Bridge over River Quai (the so-called Death Railroad), Erawan National Park, Lumpini Stadium (for Muay Thai kickboxing), the town called Pai

Famous celebs - Tiger Woods (his mom is Thai), Tata Young, Pancake, Miss Universe a couple years ago was 1/2 Thai (I think Natalie something), Thaksin Shinawatra, & of course HM the King. All of these are famous Thai folks.

Absolutely a golden Buddha. Thailand for various reasons has become the place people most associate with golden Buddhas. You can find them in other places but Thailand was the first to really get worldwide attention for theirs. Thailand most likely has more than any other nation. Try a picture of a golden Buddha with a temple in the background. Most all would get that. Thai Buddhas are a bit different looking than others so make sure you actually have a Buddha image from Thailand. The Thai golden Buddha is slender whereas the Chinese have a fat Buddha.

I think most people would think of a delicious Thai coconut curry dish, Thai iced tea, as well as the dishes that others have previously mentioned. The foreigner favorite is probably Pad Thai. The Red Bull energy drink originated in Thailand.

There are a lot of good tourist spots in Thailand:

Bangkok

Chiang Mai

Phuket

Ko Samui

lots of beaches!

The most interesting things about Thailand are related to its history and cuolture. Thailand has its own kind of independence from the rest of SE Asia tho is influenced by surrounding countries. But I think it's fair to say that Thailand has influenced the are rather than others influencing Thailand. The food culture is truly representative of the area as a whole having Indian, Chinese and Malay characteristics whilst retaining its own special flavours. To get the idea try anything that is TomYam...but be careful cos it can be very spicy! The #thai music scene isn't partidularly internation but Thai traditional dance especially with candles is exquisite! If you're interested in culture and relationships it's very important to understand the structure of families and also the position of the King in society.

Tom Yum (Spicy soup), Som Tam (Papaya salad) and Pad Thai (Thai Fried noodles) are popular with visitors.

Tourist spots are plenty. But one of the top 10 dive spots in the world is in Phuket. No other Asian countries make it to the list. There are different landscapes from the hilly north to the flat central and northeast and the beaches in the south. Probably what many will see are the many Thai temples in the kingdom.

Celebs, many are more popular locally. International ones will include singer Tata Young, tennis player Paradorn, and the previous Miss Universe in 1965 and 1988.
